Well, lemme tell ya a tale ‘bout ol’ Jebediah, a hillbilly from the heart o’ the Appalachians. Back in 1824, Jebediah decided it was time to leave them misty mountains and head west to Fort Towson, Oklahoma. He packed up his few belongings, kissed his ma goodbye, and set off on foot, with nothin’ but his trusty rifle and his loyal hound, Shiloh.
Now, the journey was long and treacherous. Jebediah had to cross rivers, climb hills, and fend off wild critters. But the toughest part was when he ran into a band of Indians. They was fierce warriors, but ol’ Jebediah was a crack shot. He fought ‘em off, one by one, until they finally retreated. He never liked fightin’, but he did what he had to do to survive.
Years later, Jebediah found himself in Oklahoma, and by then, times had changed. He’d heard ‘bout these newfangled contraptions called automobiles, and he got his hands on a Model T Ford. Not only that, but he rigged up the first RV trailer in Oklahoma, right behind that ol’ Model T. Folks thought he was crazy, but Jebediah was always ahead of his time.
One night, some no-good meth heads tried to burn down his RV. They was lookin’ for trouble, but they didn’t reckon on Shiloh. That brave dog barked and growled, wakin’ Jebediah just in time. Together, they chased off them varmints, but not without a fight. Shiloh got hurt, but she saved the day.
Sadly, Shiloh’s heroism came at a cost. Not long after, she chased the mailman, thinkin’ he was another threat, and met her end. Jebediah was heartbroken, but he buried Shiloh on his land and named the new RV park after her: Shiloh’s RV. Folks come from miles around to stay there, and they always hear the tale of the brave dog who saved her master.
In 2023, Jebediah’s kin folks, JT and Stephanie Arrendell, bought the park. They kept the name and the legacy alive, honorin’ the memory of Shiloh and the history of their family. And that’s the story of Jebediah and Shiloh, a hillbilly and his dog, who made their mark on Oklahoma history.
